Derwent Hill is the perfect venue for catered accommodation for groups during school holidays and at weekends.
You can choose from accommodation in our Education Centre (81 beds, mainly in en-suite dormitories with bunk beds) or our Training Centre (28 beds in en-suite twin and single rooms). You can also book the whole centre. For open events where smaller numbers and individuals can book, please see our Activity Holidays page.
Please note, we do not have self-catering facilities.
Weekend Breaks
Our fully catered weekend breaks start with a buffet style evening meal on Friday (arrival from 6pm) and finish with a packed lunch on Sunday (departure time is 2pm). Prices advertised are for a 2-night break. All prices include VAT.
Weekend Breaks in the Training Centre
From April to October, the minimum group size is normally 8, but sometimes we can take bookings for smaller groups – please contact us for availability. Groups of 14 or more can book for exclusive use. From November to March, the minimum group size is 14.

Weekend Breaks in the Education Centre
Available during the school holidays, the minimum group size is 36, but sometimes we can take bookings for smaller groups.

Weekend Breaks using the Whole Centre
You can book the whole centre for a minimum of 50 guests.
Accommodation is for 36 guests in dormitory style en-suite rooms in the Education Centre (Fells Wing) and 14 guests in twin en-suite rooms in the Training Centre.

Additional accommodation is available on request, up to a maximum of 80 guests.
Activities
You can book recreational activities for one or more days of a Weekend Break. The activities available depend on the time of year and may be affected by the weather on the day, in which case we will provide an alternative activity. The minimum age for activities is 8 and the maximum number of people per group is 10.

Outdoor Activity Weekends in the Education Centre
(for adult groups or youth organisations with adult participants)
Outdoor Activity Weekends in the Education Centre run from 5.30 pm on Friday to 4.30 pm on Sunday with a team activity on the Friday evening and small group activities on Saturday and Sunday.
Bookings are normally only taken during Sunderland school holidays and at weekends in low season (October half term – February half term). The minimum number of guests is 36. Minimum numbers may apply for activity groups. Please contact us for prices and more information.
